Traditional  Plastering

The art of plastering has existed for thousands of years—evolving from early techniques like wattle and daub to modern gypsum work. At our company, we specialise in offering a more natural alternative.

Our approach is rooted in traditional practices, from a time when mass-produced products weren’t available at places like B&Q. Back then, we worked with the land around us and learned to use and respect the natural materials at hand.

Using local aggregates, natural lime, and hemp shives, this plaster is breathable and insulating, providing a healthy and sustainable finish.

With a long historical pedigree, this mix of just lime and earth—often enhanced with hemp or straw for added insulation—offers a direct connection to the natural world, allowing you to truly feel the earth.

Acting as a natural binder, clay serves as the glue that holds the plaster together. Mixed with earth or local aggregates, clay plaster is an excellent, natural alternative to modern plasters. In some cases, we can even source the clay directly from your site—perhaps from the digging of your fountain for a new extension—making it as local as it gets.

Each of our plastering methods is designed to honour traditional techniques while providing modern performance, ensuring that your property benefits from the best of both worlds.
